Gratitude for Greatness is a program launched by Neal Law Firm in order to give back to those who serve our community. It was established in June of 2019 and will be open to applicants indefinitely. Here’s what you need to know about the program.
What it Does
In summary, the Gratitude for Greatness program provides Estate Plans for first responders in Arizona. This includes EMTs, police officers, and firefighters that work actively in Arizona.
The goal of Estate Planning is to provide peace of mind that you and your family will be taken care of no matter what situation arises. By having an estate plan, you secure your family member’s futures and ensure that you will be taken care of in the event of your passing or incapacity. To meet these goals for first responders, Neal Law Firm provides a free Basic Will, Financial Power of Attorney and Advanced Health Care Directives through the Gratitude for Greatness program.
Wills serve a variety of purposes. For one, a will can name guardians for minor children. This ensures that your children will be cared for according to your wishes. Second, a will can determine who will inherit your property. This ensures that your belongings will be dispersed in the way you want them to. Third, a will can determine who will administer your estate during probate. This ensures that even before your plan is finalized, there is someone you trust in charge.
A Financial Power of Attorney allows someone that you choose (your “agent”) to step in and manage your affairs in the event of your incapacity. The Power of Attorney grants your agent the authority to perform everyday actions such as banking, selling property, dealing with insurance, entering contracts, completing and signing tax returns, retrieving and opening mail, etc.
Health Care Directives determine how you will be cared for if a situation arises where you cannot vocalize for yourself what you would like done. There are many benefits to having Health Care Directives. For one, this tells your family how to help you best, which is extremely beneficial to both you and your family. By already having a plan in place, you are helping your family make the best decision and avoid arguments and guilt. Additionally, having Health Care Directives provides peace of mind. First responders face dangerous situations every day, and having a health care directive can provide peace of mind to both you and your family during those dangerous times.
How it Works
To apply, fill out the form here. We ask you a few simple questions. Once your form is submitted, we make sure there isn’t a conflict of interest (we make sure that working with you doesn’t conflict with our work for someone else). Then, we send you an Estate Planning Questionnaire. This asks you about your estate, your family, and other relevant information. Once you send that back to us, we schedule an appointment with you.
At this appointment, we will review your estate plan with you. We will answer any questions you have, and we’ll make sure your estate plan meets your specific needs. Once we are both satisfied with your plan, you’ll sign the documents. You have an Estate Plan! You’ll receive both paper and digital copies of all relevant estate planning documents.
Thank You!
We initiated this program because we have great respect for the state of Arizona and the people that keep it safe. Without first responders, our world would not be the same. Neal Law Firm is incredibly grateful to all those, past and present, that provide necessary emergency services to the people of Arizona. Thank you!
